Mainframe QA / Testing Analyst

Role Overview

The Mainframe QA / Testing Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and stability of enhancements delivered to DCAS’s CERTS and Civil Service List Management systems.

This role focuses on test planning, execution, validation, and release verification within a complex mainframe environment where accuracy and reliability are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning & Design

• Develop detailed test scenarios, test cases, and regression plans based on functional and technical specifications

• Identify test coverage requirements for new enhancements and existing system components

Test Execution & Validation

• Execute functional, integration, and regression tests across CERTS modules

• Validate new business logic, including NQU process implementation

• Document test results, defects, and remediation recommendations

UAT & Production Verification

• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating with business users and developers

• Validate fixes and retest resolved defects

• Perform post-deployment verification to ensure production stability

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure delivered enhancements meet DCAS quality standards

• Confirm no adverse impact to existing certification or hiring workflows

• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and delivered functionality

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience testing mainframe-based applications

• Strong understanding of legacy system workflows and batch processing

• Ability to design and execute regression testing in complex environments

• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

Preferred:

• Experience testing government or public-sector systems

• Familiarity with CERTS, HR, or eligibility-based applications
