Salesforce Architect (GovCloud) — Senior / CTO-level
Hourly Rate: $90–$100/hour W2
Location: Hybrid (NY / Remote) — U.S. candidates preferred
Role type: Contract or Full-time (12-month contract / direct hire considered)
About the role
We’re hiring a senior Salesforce Architect with deep experience in secure, government-grade/cloud Salesforce deployments (GovCloud or equivalent). You will lead solution architecture, integrations, security & compliance design, proof-of-concepts, and knowledge transfer for a high-visibility Salesforce program. This is a hands-on advisory role at a CTO/lead architect level — a blend of strategic leadership and tactical delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture for Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Platform, Experience Cloud) in secure/regulated cloud environments.
- Define data model, security architecture (sharing model, encryption, masking), and integration patterns (APIs, middleware, eventing).
- Create architecture diagrams, technical decision records, and roadmaps supporting scalability and maintainability.
- Build and deliver proofs-of-concept (POCs) and feasibility prototypes to validate approaches.
- Perform code and configuration reviews; recommend refactors and quality improvements.
- Recommend CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, static analysis, and release management best practices.
- Advise on governance, data governance, CoE design, environment strategy (multi-org, sandboxes), and release cadence.
- Ensure designs meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements (FedRAMP/NIST/CIS/State equivalents).
- Guide vendor/ISV selection and perform fit/gap analysis of third-party solutions.
- Prepare architecture documentation, runbooks, and training artifacts; deliver knowledge transfer to internal teams.
- Mentor developers, admins, and integration engineers; support stakeholder technical reviews.
Minimum qualifications
- 5+ years as a Salesforce Architect or senior technical lead on enterprise Salesforce implementations.
- Proven experience in secure / regulated / government environments (GovCloud, FedRAMP, or equivalent).
- Strong hands-on skills in data modeling, declarative automation (Flows), Apex, integration patterns (REST, SOAP, Platform Events), and deployment tooling (CI/CD).
- Experience with identity & access management (SSO/SAML/OAuth), encryption at rest/in transit, and role/permission modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to produce architecture artifacts (diagrams, ADRs, runbooks) and lead technical decisions.
- Excellent communication skills — able to convey technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred certifications & skills
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) — ideal.
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect and System Architect (or Integration Architecture Designer).
- Platform Developer I/II, Salesforce Administrator preferred.
- Familiarity with Salesforce Shield, MuleSoft (or equivalent ESB/iPaaS), Experience Cloud, and complex Org strategies.
- Experience with NIST, FedRAMP, CJIS, or other government security standards.
- Prior experience establishing a Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE) and governance model.
Desired experience
- Multi-org and enterprise packaging strategies, large data volumes and performance tuning.
- Designing for scale, multi-tenant data separation, and cross-system data lineage.
- Vendor/ISV evaluation, procurement support, and integration with legacy systems (ERP, document stores).
- Delivering POCs and technical leadership in cross-functional program teams.
What we offer / Why join
- Influence high-impact, secure cloud solutions used across mission-critical programs.
- Opportunity to architect and shape CoE, governance, and long-term platform strategy.
- Collaborative team environment with senior stakeholders and product owners.
- Flexible engagement model (contractor or full-time) and competitive pay.
