Job Overview
The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Project Manager is a critical role within the Office of Sustainability, focused on accelerating the transition to a zero-emission fleet. This individual will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of projects and initiatives related to zero-emission vehicles and their associated infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, agile professional with a passion for climate action, strong project management skills, and a solid understanding of ZEV technology, policy, and sustainability principles.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development and Tracking

Facilitate project status meetings, document proceedings, and obtain necessary project updates.

Track and report on project milestones, deliverables, budget impacts, and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Identify, oversee, and evaluate pilots and demonstrations (e.g., workplace charging, mobile EV chargers) and develop plans for broader implementation.

Support the development of workplans, policies, and initiatives to achieve organizational ZEV goals.

Conduct feasibility studies for future charging infrastructure, analyzing vehicle utilization, stakeholder needs, and electrical capacity.
Program Administration

Advance change management and process improvements to streamline charging infrastructure deployment and operational use.

Monitor and synthesize developments in ZEV policy, markets, incentives, and technology.

Identify, apply for, and manage grants to fund zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure.

Develop and deliver concise presentations and briefing materials for internal stakeholders and executive leadership.

Manage contracts and pursue necessary authorizations to advance the ZEV program.

Perform other related tasks and sustainability initiatives as directed.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Project Management, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in project management, fleet management, sustainability, cleantech/climatetech, or a related engineering field.

Demonstrated knowledge of project implementation, zero-emission vehicle technology, and infrastructure deployment.

Familiarity with local, state, and federal ZEV, energy, and sustainability policies, incentives, and legislation.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including facility staff, contractors, and executive leadership.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present to varied audiences.

Demonstrated quantitative, data analysis, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred

Advanced degree in a related discipline (e.g., Sustainability, Engineering, Business).

Hands-on experience with energy/mechanical equipment, metering technology, and knowledge of related industry standards.

Baseline understanding of electrical engineering principles.

Experience within a large, complex organization (e.g., public agency, large corporation).

Technical Knowledge: Zero Emission Vehicle technology, charging infrastructure, transportation technologies, basic electrical principles, energy conservation.

Project Management: Project plan development, implementation, scheduling, budgeting, milestone tracking, and scope management.
